Does the Science of the Mind believe heaven and hell exist?

When we experience harmony with surrounding life, The Science of Mind believes heaven is exhibited. Hell is manifested in our minds when we don’t understand trials. Therefore, we create our own heaven and hell on earth. These beliefs continue with us through death -- called the transition to the next plane of existence. Certain exalted inner states of consciousness are closer to the kingdom of heaven than our everyday lives. But when we realize God is here and now, we understand heaven.

The Science of Mind rejects eternal damnation because it trusts that God would not create life only to destroy or condemn it. The difficulties we bring upon ourselves as free individuals can be called damnation. By turning to God as perfect, law, love, and truth, we are released from these difficulties. The choice is ours.

Does The Science of Mind teach eternal life? Although we each have a body, it teaches that our real selves are the infinite, immortal spirits that animates our bodies. As we learn to identify our divine and eternal natures, our underlying fear of death dissolves, and our experiences of life become joyful. We are living the eternal NOW which includes both here and hereafter. Our life is ever unfolding God’s self-expression. When we die, our whole nature is changed, but we retain our individual identity.
