What is the Association for Research and Enlightenment?

The Association fro Research and Enlightenment is often called A.R.E. It is the international headquarters for the operation of "the sleeping prophet" Edgar Cayce.

The association was founded in 1931 and its purpose, according to its founder, is to "preserve, research and disseminate the psychic work of Edgar Cayce." During the early years of the organization, most decisions were made only after physic consultation.

This organization helps fund and promote occult practices and conferences. Two periodicals are published by the A.R.E. - The New Millennium and Venture Inward and over 100 books. Television programs are also produced.

The A.R.E. headquarters is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Educational programs focus on holistic health, massage, reincarnation, dreams, ESP, and other occult topics. At the Association for Research and Enlightenment, visitors can test their ESP, view and research the Cayce readings, and visit one of the largest metaphysical libraries in the world.

The Encyclopedia of Cults and New Religions says, "Recently, it [ the A.R.E.] has become one of the largest coordinated bodies promoting occultism in America today and its influence has moved into the international arena."
